Information we collect

Account information: the email address and password you use to sign up. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text.

Content you create: recipes, ingredients, instructions, pantry items, meal plans, grocery lists, notes, and household membership.

Imported content: when you paste a link, we fetch the public content at that URL to extract recipe data. We do not access your accounts on those sites or post on your behalf.

Technical information: basic logs and device or browser details needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide and operate the app: parsing, saving, transforming, and syncing your recipes across your devices; matching your pantry to recipes; building grocery lists; keeping your account secure; and improving the product.

We may send you essential account or service messages. We do not sell your personal data.

Recipe imports and third parties

When you import from a recipe site or a social post (for example TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, or Pinterest), we request that public URL to read its recipe content. Those third-party sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Cookies

We use a first-party session cookie (prefixed “dish-scribe”) to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in our database and protected with reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Sharing your information

We share data only with the service providers needed to run Dish-Scribe (such as hosting and database providers), or where required by law. If you use household sharing, your content is shared with the members you invite.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. Deleting your account removes your recipes and personal information from active systems.

Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data, subject to any limited retention required for legal or security reasons.

Children

Dish-Scribe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top reflects the latest revision, and continued use of the app means you accept the updated policy.
